Easy Tracker privacy

Easy Tracker shares your live location with the person you send the link to. That is the whole product. There is no account.

The short version

What the traveller's phone sends

Easy Tracker collects your precise location, including while the app is closed or your phone is locked, and shares the latest point with anyone you send the link to. It is used only to show them where you are on the way. We don't keep a history and we don't sell it. Sharing stops when you tap Stop, or after 12 hours.

The app sends latitude, longitude, a rough accuracy, speed and direction when the phone has them, and the time. It does not send your name, phone number, contacts, or a photo.

The share link is the only key. It is a long random code, not a short PIN. Anyone you send it to can see the live point until the link ends. Send it only to the person you are going to meet.

If you are the person waiting

The map page can use your phone's location to measure distance and a rough arrival time. That calculation happens on your phone. Your location is not sent to Easy Tracker.

You do not need an account or the app. When the link ends, the page stops showing where they were.

How long data stays

A link lasts 12 hours, then it stops working and the location is deleted. If you tap Stop sooner, it is deleted then. After that, the old link does not open.

The server does not write coordinates into its log. These pages run on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may still keep ordinary connection logs, which can include the share link, for a short time. Those logs are not used for ads.

Background location

The app keeps sending your location when the screen is locked or the app is in the background, so the person with the link can see you coming on a long trip. That is why it asks to use location all the time.

On Android, a notification stays visible while sharing is on: "Easy Tracker. Sharing your live location. Open the app to stop."

Updates are spaced out, about every 20 seconds and after you have moved roughly 50 meters, using balanced accuracy rather than the highest GPS setting. A reboot pauses sharing until you open the app again.

The exact permission text

iPhone, while the app is open:

Easy Tracker uses your location so the person you send the link to can see where you are.

iPhone, including while the phone is locked:

Easy Tracker keeps sharing your location while the app is closed or your phone is locked, so the person with your link can see you coming. Sharing stops when you tap Stop or after 12 hours. Your location history is not kept.

Before the phone shows those system prompts, the app shows this disclosure and waits for you to tap Allow location:

Easy Tracker collects your precise location, including while the app is closed or your phone is locked, and shares the latest point with anyone you send the link to. It is used only to show them where you are on the way. We don't keep a history and we don't sell it. Sharing stops when you tap Stop, or after 12 hours.

Map pictures

The map is drawn by the browser. It requests map tiles for the area on screen from CARTO, based on OpenStreetMap. Those requests do not include the share link. They do reveal the general area being viewed to the tile provider.

Children

Easy Tracker is not directed at children under 13. Do not use it to track a child, and do not send a link to someone you do not mean to meet.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date below will change and the app listing will point at this same page.
